4 Things You Must Make Time For When you are expecting

Finding out that you are expecting a baby is a big deal. Not only will you be experiencing joy, you’ll be wondering what the next nine months have in store for you and what childbirth has in store for you. It’s a time of rushing emotions and hormones and it’s also a time to sit back and reflect. If this is your first baby, you’re going to have a lot of questions and the baby books can only take you so far because those books aren’t tailored to your life experiences. If this is your second or third child you have different questions, worries and anticipations.

When you are pregnant with your first child, you have a lot to get done. There is a lot of information to take in while your body changes and knowing what comes next is essential for your well-being. Below, we’re going to cover four things that you should absolutely make time for when you are expecting a baby, so that you can have the healthiest, happiest pregnancy possible.

Here are Your 4 Essential Things To Do (or Not Do)

4 Things You Must Make Time For When you are expecting

  • Don’t Beat Your Diet Up. Believe it or not, there are a lot of women that have every intention of eating a nutrient-dense diet full of fruit and vegetables that are going to help your baby to grow in the right way. The problem is that no one asked the baby what it wanted. Food aversions in pregnancy are a thing, and you could go from being the healthiest, most food-conscious vegetarian and then suddenly feel the need to chow down on a T-bone. You need to eat as well as your pregnancy allows you to eat, so if you have to live on toast and peanut butter while your body throws up, so be it.

  • Make New Friends. Regardless of how supportive your current friendship groups are, you won’t find better friends than those you meet in your prenatal class. This is a place where you are all in the same boat, which means you all understand each others experiences. It’s a place you can get together with people and cement a new friendship together while your babies grow up. Create yourself a Mom Tribe of other women going through a similar stage in their life.

  • Protect Your Health. Pregnancy is not the time to go bungee jumping or to start a new diet regimen. It’s the time you need to take it easy and relax a little. To sit back and take stock of the world around you. It’s the time you need to know your limits as a pregnant woman and respect those limits. Find ways to destress your life and find time for yourself.

  • Join An Exercise Class. In the interests of keeping your health on track, you need to join a new exercise class and get out there. It’s easy to stay inside with Netflix, but an exercise class will give you energy, help you to meet people and discover a new love of working out. Join a prenatal yoga or pilates class for something easier to manage.

4 Things You Must Make Time For When you are expecting

Pregnancy is a time for taking care of yourself and that includes your mental health as well as your physical health. Take the time to realize that you need to slow down so that you will be able to enjoy your pregnancy.

I doubt I’ll ever be pregnant again. Once was enough for me, but if it happens, I’d love to join a prenatal yoga or pilates class. Thanks for sharing these tips with us.

I remember how happy my wife and I were when we found out that she was pregnant. We did everything in the world just to ensure that our baby was healthy and that my wife’s pregnancy was safe.

Making friends in a parenting class is such a good idea and yet also one that never occurred to me. It would definitely make sense! Overall great tips!

These are fabulous tips as it is so important to take care of yourself during this time. I loved being pregnant and truly enjoyed every minute of it and I definitely took care of myself all while working FT up until 2 days before I had my daughter. I miss it 🙂

These are great tips! I joined a yoga class when I got pregnant! Also before I got pregnant, my husband and I were vegetarian in the house but we ate meat when we went out to eat (if we wanted to). But when I got pregnant, I was chowing down on Bubba burgers and everything else!

Great real life tips. One thing you learn pretty quick as new parents is that inside the tummy or out babies don’t read books and they are going to do their thing on their time. My wife made friends and contacts from groups when our kids were babies 👶, twenty one years later she still has many of those friendships.

Love the tips. I personally failed at the first one. I always tend to judge myself when I’m pregnant.

Yes, these are great tips. I wished I could have taken an exercise class, I was on bed rest the whole time.
